Automotive Industry

Within the last 30 years, the automotive industry was one of the first industries in Moselle. In the seventies, this activity took an increasingly significant place in the industrial landscape with the launch and the development of two plants: in Borny (gear boxes manufacturer) and in Trémery (first European manufacturer of diesel car engines) by the group PEUGEOT CITROEN

With principal European automotive manufacturers located within a radius of 310 miles, a strong industrial tradition, and the know-how of its manpower, the Moselle region is favored ground for a number of equipment suppliers and automobile subcontractors including AKG, ASEC, CONTINENTAL, DELPHI, GKN, ITT AUTOMOTIVE, Kolbenschmitt-pierburg, KRUPP PRESTA, ZF LEMFOERDER METAL FRANCE, LUCAS TRW, FICOSA, REHAU to name a few.

These companies also benefit from the immediate proximity of large manufacturers like COMPACT MICROPHONE BUS (Daimler- Chrysler) in Hambach (Smart), FORD in Sarrelouis, the SOVAB in Batilly (Renault Industrial Vehicles), EVOBUS (Mercedes Benz) in Ligny in Barrois, and OPEL in Kaiserslautern.
15,000 jobs!
To this day in Moselle, the automotive industry represents more than 70 companies and 15,000 jobs in the iron and steel industry, the transformation of metals, mechanics activity as well as other sectors such as the plastics industry, composite materials, electro technical electronics/and services (logistics - engineering and design departments...)
