Forest-related Industry

In the forefront of French wood-producing regions, Lorraine profits from a significant forest potential.

With an annual production of more than 12.4 million cubic feet, the sawmill of leafy trees ranks number one in the nation. The company CHENE DE l’EST has a production center in Hambach, which combines sawing with more specialized processing activities such as panellings and parquet floors. Oak is the favorite material of this company, which
employs 62 people and exports 50% of its revenue to Germany. Sawmills of coniferous trees produce 20.5 million cubic feet of sawn timber annually.

SAWMILLS REUNIES of Abreschviller specializes in the production of wood framework, formwork and packing. Fir and spruce are favorite materials. 13% of 4.2 million cubic feet of treated round wood per year are intended for the Belgian, Dutch and Scandinavian markets. The company employs 80 people and recently launched the construction of a new sawmill. The mechanical work of wood is characterized by its diversity. The Lorraine sawmills of the Moselle region supply manufacturers of panels (DEPALOR in Phalsbourg), and wood floors (TIMBERGER in Rohrbach les Bitche).

Furniture manufacturers develop two main types of products: contemporary pieces from agglomerated wood (WELLE) and sawn timber pieces. Certain producers specialize in seat manufacturing.

Established in Faulquemont, the ROTO FRANK Company specializes in roof, windows and wooden retractable staircase manufacturing. This subsidiary company of the German group ROTO FRANK exports more than half of its annual sales.
