In 10
years, the Moselle region in Lorraine has acquired a true
European logistic vocation. Benefiting from an exceptional
geographical location at the heart of Europe and the intersection
of two of the largest markets in continental Europe (France
and Germany), the Moselle region capitalizes on its local
population to develop new assets (i.e., communication
infrastructures, training, real-estate solutions, technical
and financial support of projects). |
 |
Today, it is almost impossible
not to consider the Moselle region when developing any
European logistic project study:
- a privileged access to strategic markets such as France,
Germany and Benelux,
- quality communication infrastructures (road, rail, air,
water way),
- sites and buildings at a very competitive price,
- major international references (AGCO, CAT Logistics,
DHL, FM Logistic, GEFCO, GE Lighting, HASBRO, IKEA, ITT
Flygt, KATOEN NATIE, MOSOLF, PANOPA, SOLOTRA, TENNECO,
UPS),
- a complete logistic offer (storage, order preparation,
co-packing, co-manufacturing), and
- a local dynamic to support technical and financial projects. |

The Moselle region has gained the recognition
of professionals:
- Organization of the 20th ASLOG National Congress in
Metz in 2001
- Implantation of major investors/promoters in real-estate
logistic which launched construction or logistic parks
programs: PROLOGIS repurchased the building of CAT LOGISTICS
(194,000 square feet) in Argancy, BAIL INVESTMENT (group
ISM) built a building in Ennery of 241,000 square feet. |

Logistic news is first and foremost
in the Moselle region:
- PRD developed the first French network of new generation
logistic parks in Moselle, Distripôle Thionville,
of which the first building with 312,000 square feet was
just completed. Available for rent, it breaks up into
two cells and has modules DRIRE (1510, 1530, 2663) making
it possible to store a broad line of goods. - In 2001,
VFLI, integrated into the group SNCF, repurchased the
coal mine of the Lorraine Basin, in Moselle East. VFLI
Cargo, its subsidiary company, has large projects of
international developments (maintenance of railway material,
stockage/manutention, study and realization of railway
production, platforms railroad and railroad transport,
trucks and coaches cleaning). With the development of
a road bypass southeast of Metz, a new activity zone,
the development of DHL, and the lengthening of the landing
track to two miles, and completion of the TGV in 2007,
the Metz-Nancy-Lorraine airport, which maintains activity
related to air transportation, freight and logistics,
is expected to grow.
